Welcome. In this series of articles, I am sharing with you, step by step, the synthesis of my research and, as always, my intuitions regarding the meaning and paths of the approaching human reality, which is referred to as the New World.
First up is the second way to reach the New World frequency: the Consciousness of Unity.
The Consciousness of Unity, or Hieros Gamos (Greek: ἱερὸς γάμος, “divine marriage”), refers to the divine union rituals believed to have taken place between a god and a goddess, or a king and a goddess, in many cultures of the ancient world. It is, in essence, a unity within the outer world as well as within the inner world.
This concept holds a central place, particularly in Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Greek, and Egyptian mythologies. Scholars like Hugh Nibley (1992) and Ioan Culianu (1987) suggest that these ceremonies both revitalized the cosmic order and reinforced the legitimacy of the kingship.
Today, in modern spirituality, Hieros Gamos is interpreted as the “harmony and union of the inner masculine and feminine,” meaning the integration of the individual within themselves and the activation of their creative power.
Let’s briefly recall its historical examples first…
1. Hieros Gamos in Sumer: Inanna and Dumuzi
One of the oldest examples of the divine marriage ritual is found in the Sumerian civilization. Annually, during the Akitu (New Year) festival, the king would perform a symbolic union with the high priestess of the goddess Inanna. This ritual represented the cosmic marriage of the goddess Inanna and the shepherd-god Dumuzi.
Sumerian texts state:
“Dumuzi lies down on the divine bed; Inanna sends down blessing upon him.” (ETCSL: Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature)
This ritual signified a cosmic “energy harmony” to ensure the fertility of the land, the flow of water, the proliferation of animals, and the bringing of abundance to the country by the king.
2. Hieros Gamos in Ancient Greece: Zeus and Hera

In Greek mythology, the marriage of Zeus and Hera is considered the divine archetype of the hieron gamos. This marriage points to the cosmic harmony between the sky (masculine) and the earth/marital order (feminine). Walter Burkert, in his work on the fundamental structure of Greek religion, states that this marriage symbolized both the cosmic and social order.
Every year, the symbolic marriage of Zeus and Hera was “re-enacted” in a theatrical ceremony at the Heraion temple in Argos.
3. Divine Union in Egypt: Pharaoh and Goddess

In Ancient Egypt, the pharaoh was seen as the living representative of the god Osiris; his consort was often the high priestess of the goddess Isis. This union ritual reactivated the Osiris–Isis cycle, guaranteeing both fertility and the pharaoh’s divine legitimacy.
Jan Assmann, discussing Egypt’s religious structure, emphasizes that this tradition was not merely symbolic but also the “cosmic source of legitimacy for power.”
While historical examples mostly represent unity in the outer world, in Medieval Western esotericism, Gnosticism, and the alchemical tradition, Hieros Gamos ceased to be a physical ritual and began to signify the “union of the inner masculine and feminine.” In alchemy, this union is represented by the iconography of:
- Sun (masculine)
- Moon (feminine)
and is called the coniunctio. Carl Jung (1954) argued that this union is the archetypal symbol of the “integration” process in the human psyche.
Now, I would like to elaborate on the place of this concept within the context of the New World and the Consciousness of Unity.
The Consciousness of Unity is in contrast with today’s 3rd Dimension life, which is lived with the 5 senses and is dominated by a strong perception of suffering.
Conclusion: Inner Balance and the New World
We have seen how the concept of Hieros Gamos (The Consciousness of Divine Union) evolved, stretching from the fertility rituals in Sumer to the cosmic order of Ancient Greece, and finally to the inner integration of Medieval alchemy.
Today, this ancient wisdom is the key to reaching the New World frequency and experiencing the Consciousness of Unity. In modern spirituality, Hieros Gamos is not about external rituals but about the act of balancing and merging the Masculine (Sun) and Feminine (Moon) energies present within each of us. This inner harmony not only activates our personal creative power but also opens the doors to living at a higher frequency, liberated from the 3rd Dimension’s perception of suffering.
When we achieve this Divine Union within ourselves, the dualities of the external world (good/evil, dark/light) begin to dissolve, and a profound Consciousness of Unity, where we are all interconnected, is experienced. Establishing this balance as we enter the new year is the most powerful step toward the personal and collective transformation we desire.
